Cricket bat size guide

Choosing the correct cricket bat size is particularly important for junior players. A bat that is too long or heavy can make it harder to develop good technique and play shots comfortably.

As a general guide, cricket bats progress through Size 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Harrow, Small Adult and Short Handle (SH) as a player grows, with Long Handle (LH) and Long Blade (LB) options also available for taller players.

If you're unsure, visit our Birmingham store and we'll help measure the player and recommend the appropriate bat size.

How much should I spend on a cricket bat?

Your budget will depend on the player, their level of cricket and what they're looking for from their bat. At Boundary Sports, we stock cricket bats across a wide range of price points, with options for both developing players and experienced cricketers.

Junior cricket bats are available across a range of budgets, with our junior hardball bats ranging up to around £200.

Senior cricket bats cover a wider price range, from more affordable options through to premium hardball bats costing £400 and above.

If you're visiting our Birmingham store, we'll establish the correct size first, ask what you'd like to spend, and then let you compare suitable bats within your budget. You can pick them up, feel the weight and balance, test the ping and even face a few throwdowns using a softer bowling machine ball before making your choice.
